Columbia College Hollywood is a non-profit four-year baccalaureate degree-granting institution. The College is nationally accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and approved by the State of California’s Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). NASAD is the premier accrediting authority for colleges specializing in the visual arts. Other member schools include Syracuse University, Carnegie Mellon University and The University of Notre Dame, among others.
Additionally, Columbia College Hollywood has applied for Eligibility from the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). WASC has reviewed the application and determined that the College is eligible to proceed with an application for Initial Accreditation. A determination of Eligibility is not a formal status with the Accrediting Commission, nor does it ensure eventual accreditation; it is a preliminary finding that the institution is potentially accreditable and can proceed within four years of its Eligibility determination to be reviewed for Initial Accreditation status with the Accrediting Commission. Questions about Eligibility may be directed to the institution or to WASC at wascsr@wascsenior.org or to (510) 748-9001.
As is the policy of all institutions of higher learning, credit units from Columbia based on the existing accreditation from NASAD may or may not transfer to other colleges and universities at the graduate or undergraduate level as the transfer of such units is always done so at the discretion of the receiving institution. Nevertheless, many Columbia graduates have engaged in film or television graduate study at The American Film Institute, Loyola Marymount, The University of Southern California and other educational institutions.
