Columbia College Hollywood offers a unique admissions process. While we maintain a high academic standard and review all final transcripts from an applicant’s high school and prior educational institutions attended, we are looking for the finest artistic potential in our students.
While academic achievement is an important component in the decision to accept an applicant, the College considers students for admission based on their ability to successfully undertake both professional training and a liberal arts curriculum. You will be required to submit official transcripts indicating a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0; a personal essay with a minimum of 500 words describing career goals and artistic pursuits; as well as two letters of recommendation from teachers, educators, or individuals who know you well and are not family members.
The College will request an interview with a prospective student prior to final admissions consideration.
An applicant’s desire to develop as a filmmaker is an important factor the College examines when reviewing admissions applications. Sample film reels or portfolios can help us in our decision-making process but are not mandatory nor do they give one applicant an advantage over another. Desire and motivation can be expressed just as clearly through written words or during a one-on-one personal interview. The College strongly recommends (but does not require) the submission of SAT/ACT scores.
All students must have completed their high school education or received their General Education Development certification prior to matriculating at Columbia College Hollywood.
CCH operates on the quarter system. New students are accepted at the beginning of each quarter: Fall (September), Winter (January), Spring (April) and Summer (July). Each quarter is twelve weeks long, except for Summer which is ten weeks long.
