When can I apply for housing?
Although you can apply for housing at any time, your application will not be processed until you have been accepted for admission.
How are students matched up as roommates?
Students who choose the Apartment option are matched with roommates based on the answer from your roommate questionnaire. The more information you provide on the questionnaire the better chances on having a roommate with similar interests and goals. Students who choose the Dorm option are matched up with roommates by Meridian Point. At Meridian Point, your roommate may or may not be a CCH student.
What are the options on the length of my lease?
Our initial housing lease is for one academic year (9 months). When you renew your lease, the minimum renewal term is for one academic quarter (about 3 months).
If I apply for CCH housing and then change my mind, is my deposit refundable?
Housing deposits for students who change their mind are generally non-refundable. However, if we find another student to take your room, we will refund your deposit. The application fee is nonrefundable.
Can terminate my lease early if I want?
Yes, however you remain liable for the full rent through the end of your lease. If we are able to find another student to takeover your lease, you will be released from your contract without liability.
How do I know when I can move into housing?
The housing move-in date is provided well in advance of your first day of classes. Generally the move-in date is 1-2 weeks before the first day of classes.
Am I required to purchase renter’s insurance?
No, however if you have valuable items it would be a good investment. You should also check your parent’s homeowner’s insurance policy as renter’s insurance can usually be added on at little to no cost.
Is there wireless internet available?
The Meridian Pointe dorms offer a private gym, game room and study area called “The Zone” which provides free internet as part of the monthly cost. The monthly membership for The Zone is $25.00 per month and can be cancelled anytime. You can also order internet service for your dorm room from the local Time Warner cable company. Oakwood is the only apartment housing community that offers free wireless internet as part of your housing cost but please check with the CCH housing coordinator for exact details.
Are there laundry facilities in the housing?
Yes, all of our communities are equipped with laundry facilities. The general fee is $1.50 for washers and $1.00 for dryers. The price may vary slightly in each community. The Oakwood community comes with washer/dryer units in the apartment.
What kinds of policies and regulations will I need to follow?
We want our communities to be a place where our residents can grow and develop. There are policies (alcohol, noise, smoking, damage, etc.) for each of our living environments. Policies and regulations are designed to protect the rights of students, encourage responsibility and be cost effective in order to keep the housing rates as low as possible. Full policies will be reviewed and signed during your scheduled move in time.
What are some of the things I should bring?
We suggest you bring almost anything that will make you feel at home in your room. See our suggested list of items to bring.
Where do I pick up my mail?
There are mailboxes in each living community. You will be assigned a mailbox when you move in. The mail is delivered to each community, Monday through Saturday, and placed in each mailbox by the mail staff.
Do housing facilities close during academic breaks?
No, all of our housing facilities remain open during academic breaks.
What activities are available in housing?
All of our communities have swimming pools and outdoor barbeques. Some of our facilities offer monthly movie nights, game tournaments, game rooms and workout facilities, and the Oakwood facility includes tennis courts.
