International students (students attending under a student visa) are not eligible for federal or state student aid. The only type of financial assistance available for international students are scholarships obtained from outside entities and loans from a private international student loan lender such as Sallie Mae.
Private loans for international students are handled directly by the student with the lender of their choice. Be advised that most lenders will require a US citizen to co-sign for international students seeking a private educational loan.
