Macromedia Flash is the leading technology for creating and viewing multimedia rich content that incorporates video, audio and animation elements on the internet.  Almost all professional web masters use a browser with Flash. Along with covering the basics of Flash, this course will provide students, even beginners, with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to create rich media.  You will focus on the best method and design, stressing the importance of usability, accessibility, optimization and performance.   Upon completion of this workshop students should be able to create basic website animation. 

This course is geared toward students interested in digital media and those who are inclined toward a combination of both art and technology.

Course Objectives

  • Introduction to Macromedia Flash and how to create a Flash website
  • Publish a Macromedia Flash document in HTML using Dreamweaver
  • Create, import and work with graphics in Flash
  • Build frame by frame animation using both custom and imported graphics
  • Adding basic interactivity including dynamically changing graphics and creating triggered sound effects
  • Effectively using layers and frames for artwork and various effects
  • A basic introduction to programming with Flash’s ActionScript
  • Add text and manipulate its behavior and appearance
  • Adding Buttons, Behaviors, and Sounds
  • Draw, paint and create custom colors and gradients
  • Using Video and Audio Components
  • Introduction to ActionScript

Class Time: 8 Hours

Teaching Platform: Microsoft Windows

Prerequisite: Basic understanding of computer operating systems.

About The Instructor
Percy Leon has worked in the computer industry for over 20 years and has both a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on Computer Science.  He has worked in a wide variety of computer areas including networking, database management and software development.  His past clients include among others, Pacific Software, Windsor Technologies, CMD Technology, PowerDyne, Inc., Unicon International, and the State of California where he designed, developed and maintained the NDDS network infrastructure and database systems.  Mr. Leon is certified as a Microsoft systems engineer and as a Sun Microsystems Java programmer.  For the past several years, he has been programming in Java, Flash, PhP and My Sql.
