This workshop is designed for students who want to take advantage of the power and versatility of Apple's DVD Studio Pro for creating interactive DVD's. DVD Studio Pro allows you to create DVD discs that will play back on standard DVD players. The workshop covers creating still and motion menus, slide shows, and using Adobe Photoshop to create menu graphics. Additionally, encoding audio and video will be explained. Apple Final Cut Pro will be used to create chapter markers for easy navigation on the final DVD. Simple programming and using the built-in testing function and remote round out the class. 

At the conclusion of workshop, the students will be able to:

  • Set up a project and use a storyboard to outline the flow through the DVD
  • Encode audio and video correctly for authoring a DVD
  • Understand how layers are used in Photoshop to create interactive menus
  • Build menus and buttons with highlights
  • Create chapter markers in Final Cut Pro
  • Create a slideshow using stills, video, and audio
  • Build, format, test, and record a disc image
  • Use the remote control to test menus
  • Create a web link
  • Prepare an image for duplication  

Class Time: 32 Hours
