Columbia College Hollywood has evolved from being primarily a college for commuters to a college combining a resident student population as well as those who live in Los Angeles County. As such, we offer a wide array of student activities throughout the year.
Currently among the student activities are all-school events such as the Halloween Fright-Night Film Competition, the 48 Hour Film Challenge in the Winter Quarter, and the 3 Hour Screenwriting Challenge in the Spring Quarter.
In the Fall Quarter, events include a barbecue to celebrate the start of the academic year and welcome students back; a Halloween Party and film competition sponsored by the Student Government Association, an open-mike night featuring CCH comedians and local comedians, and an annual Christmas party featuring exhibits of student works and a stage production by CCH acting students.
Additionally, there are numerous industry speakers and screenings. All events are free to CCH students.
Several clubs and film societies are forming, and arrangements are being made for athletic teams through an association with a local YMCA.
Students are encouraged to create clubs and organizations. Speak with the Associate Director, Academic Affairs to discuss rules and parameters.
Students are also encouraged to become involved in community service and to join and become involved with entertainment industry organizations and associations.
